This Award-Winning Virtual Reality Experience and Art Exhibition on the Yazidi Genocide will be shown in the Pop-Up Studio
The award-winning exhibition Forgotten Voices of Sinjar will be on display at the Nobel Peace Center from 13th to 24th November 2024. Using cutting-edge Virtual Reality technology, photography, and art, the exhibition explores the consequences of the genocidal campaign against the Yazidi community by ISIS – its devastating effect on persecuted communities and their cultural heritage. Above all, Forgotten Voices of Sinjar pays tribute to the courage, determination, and agency of the survivors, and gives them a space where they can be heard by people around the world. Together they are one voice, calling for international recognition and justice.
The Forgotten Voices of Sinjar Virtual Reality experience was first presented at the Parliament of Iraq in December 2020, with the full immersive exhibition launching at ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe in 2021. Since then, it has traveled to Brussels, Nebraska, and Washington, D.C. Curated by Ryan D’Souza and Dijon Dajee, and developed by Upstream XR and Yazda. The exhibition in Norway is a collaboration between Norwegian People's Aid, NOREF and HL Senteret.
