Reviving Sinjar
The award-winning exhibition Forgotten Voices of Sinjar explores the consequences of the genocidal campaign against the Yazidi community by ISIS in 2014.
To mark that this story is now available to audiences in Oslo, partners invite to a public panel discussion that seeks to recenter the Yazidi plight and discuss pathways of safeguarding the Yazidi homeland. The event will feature performances by young Norwegian-Yazidis, remarks from genocide survivors, and recorded testimonies from Norwegian People’s Aid’s local partners in Northern Iraq.
Moderated by NOREF’s Frida Nome, the panel will include notable speakers such as Dr. Khalaf Sinjari, Senior Advisor for Yazidi Affairs at the Office of the Prime Minister of Iraq, the Norwegian Yazidi activist and civil society leader Nariman Salem Ham, as well as Haider Elias, Co-founder and former President for YAZDA Organization.
