Event
"The New Greatness Case" – Screening and conversation with the filmmakers and Pussy Riot
Place: 3KT
A teenagers' fight against authoritarian Russia.
Teenager Anya enjoyed discussing Russian politics and socialcissues on the internet, but everything changed when a secret agent infiltrates their chat group. The agent convinced the group to rent premises and to twist the discussions and protests in more aggressive terms. It resulted in police storming their homes to arrest and jail the teenagers, accusing them of plotting to overthrow the government and making trumped-up charges of extremism. With hidden camera footage, and an intimate relationship with the main characters, director Anna Shishova gives a unique insight of today's Russia, and how young, free-thinking people are seen as a threat to the government.
The film has English subtitles.
After the film, there will be a conversation with the filmmakers and Lusine Djanyan from Pussy Riot. Moderated by Sverre Pedersen from Freemuse.
