We invite you to a talk with Professor Dan Svantesson, a leading expert in international cyber law and digital sovereignty. In a world where we are increasingly reliant on digital systems, stability in Cyberspace is crucial for security and trust. Unclear rules on jurisdiction and sovereignty create dangerous grey areas, where digital attacks and conflicts can have serious real-world consequences. Without clear guidelines, we risk growing tensions, economic uncertainty, and weakened democratic control. Cyber peace is not just about technology—it is about the future stability of society as a whole.

Do we have war or peace in Cyberspace? What does peace even look like in a medium such as Cyberspace, characterised by persistent competition and conflict? Are traditional ‘real world’ norms suitable in Cyberspace? These are some of the questions we must urgently address to help safeguard the international rules-based order. We also need clear rules regarding jurisdiction and sovereignty to delineate State power in Cyberspace and avoid unnecessary clashes. Much is at stake as hostilities starting online quickly can escalate with very real-world implications.

Professor Dan Svantesson is a Co-Director for the Centre for Space, Cyberspace and Data Law at Bond University (Australia), a Norwegian Nobel Institute Fellow, a Senior Fellow at the Social Cyber Institute, and an Associated Researcher at the Swedish Law & Informatics Research Institute, Stockholm University.
