The Nobel Peace Center will be closed for refurbishment in January, February and March. In the meantime, the Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition will be on show in the Oslo City Hall. The “new” Nobel Peace Center opens in April.

The Nobel Peace Center is rebuilding its premises in Oslo to create a better, more accessible museum. The center is located in an old train station from 1872 and will be modernised with a new museum shop, event space and pop-up gallery.

«We are looking forward to welcoming the public in more modern and open facilities. With inspiration from the Nobel Peace Prize laureates and the importance of dialogue, we will offer exhibitions, events, education and film screenings, the Nobel Peace Center’s Executive Director Kjersti Fløgstad said.

Exhibition in the City Hall

The construction work will start in January and the Center will be closed to the public through March. From mid-January, the Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition will be on show in the Oslo City Hall. The exhibition has been showing at the Nobel Peace Center since 11 December and tells the story about the latest Nobel Peace Prize laureates Ales Bialiatski, Memorial and Center for Civil Liberties.

«We are very grateful to the Municipality of Oslo for letting us show the Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition in the same room as the Peace Prize Ceremony is held. Here, we will also receive school groups and offer guided tours during weekends. I am sure this will be a very nice offer to the public while the museum is closed”, Fløgstad said.

The exhibition in the City Hall will be free of charge. A digital version of the exhibition is also available on the Nobel Peace Center’s website.
