HUMAN RIGHTS HEROES
Nobel Peace Conference and Festival 31 August 2023
Meet the heroes and learn about the people who change the world. The Nobel Peace Conference & Festival in Oslo celebrates the latest Peace Prize.
When ordinary people do extraordinary things, human rights are strengthened.
In 2022, the Nobel Peace Prize went to the Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatski, the Russian organization Memorial and the Ukrainian Center for Civil Liberties. During the conference, representatives of all three returned to Oslo, gathered on the same stage, to talk about the situation in their respective home countries.
Among the speakers were five Nobel Peace Prize laureates:
OLEKSANDRA MATVIICHUK
Head of CCL,
Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2022
JAN RACHINSKY
Chair of Memorial,
Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2022
NATALLIA PINCHUK
Wife of Ales Bialiatski,

RIGOBERTA MENCHÚ TUM

After the conference, the Nobel Peace Center invited to a festival at Rådhusplassen with music, quiz and an inspiring talk to celebrate human rights, democracy and peace.
The Sunflower Declaration will leverage the weight of the world’s attention and the Nobel Peace Prize to push for increased respect and support for the work of human rights defenders as a pathway to peace
